Itinerary:
Day 1: Sendai Golden Route Getaway
Included meals: Lunch, Dinner
Just 15 minutes by car from Sendai Station, a peaceful, tree-lined path leads to Zuihoden, a stunning mausoleum in the elegant Momoyama style. This sacred site is the final resting place of Date Masamune, the first lord of the Sendai Domain, and is known as a spiritual power spot offering calm and reflection. The on-site museum displays burial items and samurai armor, offering a glimpse into Masamune’s refined taste and strategic mind. For dinner on your first night, enjoy gyutan, or grilled beef tongue—a must-try local specialty and the pride of Sendai cuisine.
Day 2: A Day Immersed in Tohoku's Aromas and Artisanal Spirit
Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Just 40 minutes by car from central Sendai, visit the Nikka Whisky Miyagikyo Distillery, a birthplace of Japanese whisky. After the tour, enjoy exclusive tastings and pick up some unique souvenirs. In the afternoon, try making your own Naruko kokeshi, a traditional Miyagi craft. With guidance from a local artisan, you’ll paint a one-of-a-kind doll to take home. End the day relaxing in a quiet mountain hot spring, surrounded by nature.
Day 3: A Day in Matsushima: Spectacular Views and Historic Wonders
Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
About an hour’s drive from Naruko Onsen is Matsushima, famous as one of Japan’s Three Great Views. The islands scattered across the bay against the blue sky create a stunning sight. Enjoy a sightseeing cruise for a unique view from the water, then visit Zuiganji Temple, known for its national treasure buildings and beautiful art.
Day 4: Savoring Sendai’s Strawberry Season: A Perfect Farewell
Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
On the final day, head from your hotel to enjoy strawberry picking. Did you know Sendai is famous for its strawberries? The best season runs from January to May, so be sure to savor their sweet, juicy flavor while you can! After strawberry picking, continue your journey from Sendai Station to your next destination.
